Topless Olympic Swimmer Amanda Beard nude protest in Beijing Olympic Water Cube

Besides playing video games, Amanda Beard is also an animal lover. She made a protest by holding her naked poster for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) outside the main road of the Beijing Olympic Village to voice her no-animal-skin outcry today. Amanda Beard said she decided to participate in the PETA campaign because she loved animals and was horrified to see how fur was produced for fashion in some places.

The Chinese authorities did their best to limit the impact of her protest, shutting down a press conference which PETA had planned on the terrace of a hotel overlooking the ‘Water Cube’ Olympic swimming venue.

“I’d much rather go naked than ever put a dead animal on my body.” Beard swore

Amanda Beard said the protest was not against China and did not interfere with the Olympics. Police and security did not interfere with the event outside the village’s south gate.

“It was a sexy advertisement really designed for the US market. It was positive, and it was (supposed) to be done in a private function room,” Baker said. “I’m surprised they were so concerned, given we’ve done similar with Asian celebrities in the past.”

Beijing Olympic office revealed today that Chinese celebrity singer Liu Huan and British singer Sarah Brightman will present the theme song of the Beijing Olympic Games.

Sarah Brightman and Liu Huan will sing the theme song of 2008 of Beijing Olympic, but the title and content of which remain a mystery for now, at the Games’ grand opening ceremony scheduled for Friday evening.
