Davy Jones in Pirates of the Caribbean

Davy Jones is a fictional character from the Pirates of the Caribbean film series and is loosely based on the old seaman’s legend of Davy Jones’ Locker. Jones made his first appearance as the main antagonist in Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest portrayed by actor Bill Nighy through Motion capture.

Hollywood Canteen

The Hollywood Canteen was build at 1451 Cahuenga Boulevard in Hollywood, California. The Canteen works as a club offering entertainment, food and dancing for the people in HollyWood. Even though the majority of visitors were U.S servicemen, the Canteen was open to business men of allied countries as well as women in all branches of service. The serviceman’s ticket for admission was his uniform and everything at the Canteen was free of charge.

John Garfield, the founder of Hollywood Canteen, was feeling the need for a club for the persons that work at Hollywood. He spoke with Bette Davis about his idea.

The Canteen, a former livery stable and nightclub, the Old Barn, was located at 1451 Cahuenga Boulevard, off Sunset.

Toni Basil, the “Mickey”, at the night of So You Think You Can Dance

The Top 8 on So You Think You Can Dance performed tonight. Once again they had two dances with their new partners and a solo to dance to.

Tonight we got a new judge, Toni Basil for the top eight on So You Think You Can Dance. You might remember Toni from her mega hit back in the 80’s - “Mickey.”
The music video for “Mickey” was one of the most popular of the early MTV videos. In the video, Basil wore her head cheerleader uniform from Las Vegas High School, the school from which she graduated (though the year on the uniform, 81, was two decades after her actual grad year). She has a special fondness for the song today and its enduring popularity. Basil has said on more than one occasion that she would gladly put on the cheerleader uniform she wore in the video again if she was asked to. In 2003, VH1 ranked “Mickey” Number 5 on its list of the 100 Greatest One Hit Wonders.

At the night of So You Think You Can Dance, Mark & Comfort picked a Hip Hop routine choreographed by Tabitha and Napoleon to “Party People” by Fergie and Nelly.
Toni says she knows how difficult Tabitha and Napoleon’s routines can be because she takes classes from them. Toni tells the pair that they brought it all together.
